Invisalign Q&A
What is Invisalign?
Invisalign uses a series of clear aligners to straighten crooked teeth and correct other common orthodontic issues. Much in the same way as conventional braces, Invisalign straightens your teeth gradually by shifting them into the correct position.
Clear aligners are made of BPA-free plastic that conforms to the shape of your teeth. They’re virtually invisible to the naked eye, so you can laugh and smile with confidence.
How does Invisalign work?
The team at RiNo Dental uses digital technology to create your customized treatment plan. Once your plan is ready, you receive your first set of aligners. Every two weeks, you wear a different set to target different teeth. The team always tells you when you should switch between different sets of aligners to achieve the results you want.
For Invisalign to work effectively, you must wear your clear aligners for at least 22 hours a day. It’s important that you remove them to eat and drink, and to brush and floss your teeth.
What are the benefits of Invisalign?
Invisalign offers a multitude of advantages over traditional braces, including:
Improved appearance
Clear aligners are thin and translucent, so others can’t tell when you’re wearing them. Unlike conventional braces, the treatment is discreet.
Shorter treatment time
While traditional braces typically take 18 months to three years to correct common orthodontic issues, Invisalign offers comparable results in as little as 6-18 months.
Convenience
Invisalign clear aligners are removable, so you can take them out when you want to eat your favorite foods or brush your teeth.
Better oral hygiene
Conventional braces are affixed to your teeth. They’re hard to maneuver with floss, and it’s easy to miss food particles and other debris when you brush your teeth. The team at RiNo Dental recommends removing your aligners after every meal to brush and floss. These small steps help ensure you can maintain your oral health while straightening your smile.
Enhanced comfort
Metal brackets and wires can irritate the inside of your cheeks. Clear aligners are smooth, so they don’t cause sores and cuts.
What is the Invisalign process like?
If you choose Invisalign, the team uses an intraoral scanner to take digital impressions of your teeth. They upload these impressions into Invisalign’s proprietary software to build your custom treatment plan. Finally, the team sends your plan to Invisalign, which creates your custom aligners.
Because the Invisalign process is entirely digital, you don’t need to come to RiNo Dental for unnecessary appointments to tighten your braces. The team can make adjustments to your plan directly through the Invisalign software.
Every six weeks, you’ll come into the office for check-up visits to ensure your treatment is going according to plan.
