Porcelain Veneers Q&A
What are porcelain veneers?
Porcelain veneers are ultra-thin ceramic shells that bond to the surface of your teeth. They cover imperfections and restore your teeth to their natural shape, size, and color. Whether you have a tiny cosmetic chip or large gaps between your teeth, porcelain veneers can give you the smile you want.
While veneers are extremely thin, they’re also durable. With proper care, porcelain veneers can last for 10 years or more. Veneers are also custom-made and stain resistant, so they look natural and blend in seamlessly with your smile.
Why should I consider porcelain veneers?
Before creating your veneers, the team at RiNo Dental takes the length, shape, color, and size of your teeth into consideration. Their goal is to make sure your veneers look like an enhanced version of your natural teeth.
Porcelain veneers may be right for you if you have:
- Chipped teeth
- Severe tooth discoloration
- Cracked or broken teeth
- Gapped teeth
- Misshapen teeth
- Short teeth
- Crooked teeth
With porcelain veneers, your smile can stay white, bright, and straight for years to come.
What does the porcelain veneers process involve?
Placing porcelain veneers takes two visits to RiNo Dental. During the first, the team meets with you to discuss your needs and goals for your veneers. They examine your teeth to create veneers that blend in naturally with your smile.
This visit also involves prep work for your veneers. The team removes a small portion of enamel to make room for your veneers, so they sit flush against your teeth. Next, they take impressions of your teeth to fabricate your custom-made veneers.
Porcelain veneers take about 2-3 weeks to create in an outside lab. To protect your smile, the team fits you for temporary veneers before you leave your first visit.
When you return to the office, they remove the temporary veneers and clean and etch your teeth. Making these small etches helps the new veneers adhere to your teeth. After placing the veneers, the team checks the fit and appearance before cementing them in place.
